BGFI May 2016 Session – Disability Laws and Policies

We thank you all for you support and participation in the knowledge sharing session last month on Neuro-Linguistic Programming. For this month’s knowledge sharing session, we invite you to an interactive session with Advocate Uday Warunjikar, who will talk to us about laws and policies for the disabled persons. This session would cover the rights of a disabled person, the various laws and policies that pertain to people with disability and also about judicial activism.

Advocate Uday Warunjikar is a noted counselor and advocate for the disabled people – not just the visually impaired but also hearing disability, cerebral palsy, persons with multiple disabilities, etc. He handles cases for all problems faced by the disabled person – from the education system to the career front. He was also a part of the team that worked the case to ensure that the provision of aids/appliances as per the ADIP scheme to the disabled person by government were granted and implemented.

Do you know that Three-percent of all government jobs in India are reserved for people with disabilities? Should a school refuse admission to a child with a disability, or if a ramp or other means of access is lacking? What can you do if it does? Do you know that the allotment of land in India is made at concessional rates to people with disabilities for housing, business, special schools, factories with entrepreneurs who experience disabilities, and recreation centers?
To know the answers to all these questions and many many more that must be on your mind, please take some time out from your busy schedule to attend this month’s session.
